Title: 2020, self portrait

I devote my research and work to the expression of my own art language. My creative approach in connecting apparently unconnected styles, which I know how to apply through profound research work with diverse materials, which provoke an interaction with the observer, while providing food for thought.

Deeply involved with the fields of artistic photography, printmaking and experimental limited edition pieces of art, my interventions in space are in harmony with the spirit of the place and are purposefully site-specific. I especially pay attention to Slovenian ethnographic heritage, as my art objects often refer to a folk tradition that I reinterpet and modernise. The intent is to develop tools for today’s humans to get access to (and shed a new light on) ancient traditions.

Graphic work

Karst in relief (Kras v reliefu) is a series of completely experimental artworks. The letterpress printing technique enables the recording and reproduction of the subtlest textures, from the most recognizable patterns to the most abstract. On paper, I have imprinted forms that tell a story in black and white about the Karst and about the traditions of its people. Small prints complement each other in their images, weaving a kind of dialogue between the narrative of the art composition and the symbolism of the relief elements.

The technique

The artwork is enclosed in a frame measuring 12×12 cm, specifically handcrafted employing chalk manufacturing techniques. This delivers strength, delicacy, and grace.

The miniatures capture the observer’s attention by highlighting a tactile microcosm, invisible to the naked eye, found in small objects the size of a palm. It is precisely this format that has the ability to express the beauty of everyday life and the small wonders that occur in nature.

It does not just deliver a tactile experience through our fingers but a stunning visual potential as well, “captured and impressed” on paper.

All prints are directly taken and generated from real-life objects and materials, from which a mould is generated.

The 4×4 cm mould is obtained through a sculptural process.

Therefore, all printed images are a faithful reproduction on paper of real existing objects.

The graphic end result is an image printed by hand on paper that faithfully reproduces the details of the original object at a 1:1 scale.

“Her art objects allow reliving through various sensory channels: hearing, vision, haptic perceptions and movement in space. In a time when digital media are making their way with impetuous steps, the artist imagines how to use new possibilities for creative purposes.”

“These small black and white works metaphorically transform into a travel experience through the Karst land and its heritage. They prompt reflection on the passage of time, where the fragility of “bare existence” meets the saving power of beauty. The artist accompanies us into the world of memory, pausing at nature and simultaneously teaching us to contemplate the meaning of observation”.
